IFLRY is an international organization that unites liberal youth structures from around the world. Its goal is to serve as the basis for cooperation of youth, whether incorporated or not in NGOs, political parties or student companies. According to our program documents our policy is based on the universality of human rights and their inviolability.

IFLRY is declared a free and tolerant society, without discrimination, giving equal chances and taking into account individual and minority rights in the world. According to IFLRY such objectives can be achieved only in a democratic system of government.

As a liberal youth organization IFLRY supports market economy, which is limited only by the equitable distribution of wealth and ecological sustainability. Our experience shows that this can be obtained through equal opportunities for division of wealth both within countries and in international trade.

IFLRY was established in 1979 in Selkeborg in Denmark, brings together two organizations having existed till then – the World Federation of Liberal and Radical Youth (WFLRY) and the European Federation of Liberal and Radical Youth (EFRY). Practically IFLRY history started in 1947 when in Cambridge, UK, was created an organization called upon to be a youth liberal platform.

In the 80s of the 20th century IFLRY stepped in several countries in North and Central America, then – in Latin America, and since 1989 - in Central and Eastern Europe.

Currently IFLRY members are over 90 organizations from the mainland. For members of IFLRY are obligatory the principles of this Youth International. To obtain full membership, each organization initially submits "candidate member" documents. If it fulfills not less than a year the conditions IFLRY statute, after the decision of the General Assembly, it can become a full member.

IFLRY may grant observer status to the organizations which because of political or other reasons can not or do not want to be full members. Another practice in the business is inviting as guests of the General Assembly.

IFLRY is a full member of Liberal International and maintains cooperation with the Liberal Assembly of the Council of Europe. It is also an active member of the European Youth Forum and has ongoing consultations with the Council of Europe and UNESCO. Another part of the activity is related to the Youth Forum of the UN. IFLRY is also a member of the European Youth Forum, and is the only international youth political organization with a representative office in the forum. In the last Congress Stanislav Anastassov was elected for Vice-president.

On the 3rd of March 2018 during the IFLRY General Assembly in Accra, Ghana, Gyulfie Arnaudova from Youth MRF was elected as Vice-president of IFLRY.

On the 23rd of March 2018 during the IFLRY General Assembly in Sofia, Bulgaria, Syuleyman Syuleyman from Youth MRF was elected as Vice-president of IFLRY.
